Best of the Two Bays Walk itinerary

Start:

9:30 am
Walking party and guide meet at Bushrangers Bay car park for car shuttle to Seawinds Gardens, Arthurs Seat, arrival 10:00am.

10:00 – 11:15 am
Explore Seawinds Gardens, the lovely views of the southern peninsula including Port Philip Bay and Bass Strait, the William Ricketts sculptures, indigenous and landscaped gardens and the Mathew Flinders Cairn.

Morning Tea:
Tea, coffee and juices with shortbreads and biscuits.

11:15/11:30am
Starting with an Arthurs Seat walk, the trail commences from Seawinds Gardens.

The first 5.5kms will take you across the scenic Arthurs Seat saddle then downhill to McLarens Dam, crossing through suburban Rosebud South, a lush fernery, meandering to and along Duells Road to the dedicated rest area for lunch, arriving approx. 1pm.

Lunch:
Gourmet sandwiches, fruit & cheese platter and refreshments.

1:30pm
The walk recommences.

The next 8.5kms is the longest continuous stretch of walk for the day.

Down and up to Browns Road, along Hyslops Road to the start of the beautiful Greens Bush section of the Track. Continue through the ferneries, eucalypt forests and open grasslands offered by Greens bush – passing through a magnificent grass tree forest on the way to the next stop at Lightwood Creek for afternoon tea, arriving approx. 3:45pm

Afternoon Tea:
Fruits and cheeses provided with refreshments.

4:00/4:15pm
The walk recommences for the final 4km push to Bushrangers Bay car park.

Undulating to flat landscape taking you through beautiful eucalypt forest, walking above and alongside Main Creek until you enter open grassland, where you may see mobs of Eastern Grey Kangaroo, until you hear the traffic from Boneo Road, marking the end of the day’s walk at around 5:30pm.

End of walk:
Cheeses and dips, with refreshments.

Change clothing and put on a pair of comfortable shoes, your guide will take your group photo(s), then car shuttle in luxury back to Seawinds Gardens to collect vehicles and mark an end to a terrific day of discovery and achievement. Return to Seawinds Gardens on or shortly after 6pm (approx.).

Finish:

Note: Trail mix (dried fruits, nuts and chocolate) and water is available at all times from your guide throughout the walk.

This Arthurs Seat walking trail may be extended by another 5.5kms (approx. 1.5 hours) to the Cape Schanck Lighthouse car park, totalling 23.5 kms for the day.
